Lettuce

Lettuce can be consumed in the form of salads or as an ingredient of sandwiches. It can be also used for the wrapping of food. Iceberg, Romaine and Leaf lettuce are the best known varieties of lettuce. They differ in colour, texture and in the amount of nutrients but will all grow well in the Cultivator.

Spinach

Spinach is a cool season crop and belongs to the goose foot family along with Swiss chard and beets. Spinach is low in calories, and is a good source of vitamin C, vitamin A, and minerals, especially iron. Spinach is a native plant of Persia (modern day Iran). BAM!

Pea Shoots

Gregor Mendel - father of modern genetics discovered the basic laws of inheritance in the 19th century by planting and cross-breeding peas of different color, size and type of seed. Aside from contributing greatly to the study of genetics, Pea shoots are also a good source of beta carotene, vitamin C, folate, and fiber. Go shoots!

Wheat Grass

Wheatgrass juice is an effective healer because it contains all minerals known to man, and vitamins A, B-complex, C, E, l and K. It is extremely rich in protein, and contains 17 amino acids, the building blocks of protein. Furthermore, it contains up to 70% chlorophyll, which is an important blood builder.

Round Baby Carrots

Round carrots are members of the Umbelliferae family, which is overwhelmingly comprised of 455 genera and over 3500 species, making this family one of the largest taxon among higher plants. Carrots contain the richest sources of beta-carotene. While it won’t make you see in the dark, beta-carotene does help with eyesight, as well as boost the immune system and promote healthy skin
